For most petrol cars running on mineral oil in Indian city conditions, 5,000 km or every 6 months (whichever comes first) is the recommended interval. However, if your car uses fully synthetic oil, many manufacturers allow up to 10,000–15,000 km between changes.

  • Petrol with Mineral Oil: 5,000 km / 6 months
  • Petrol with Semi-Synthetic Oil: 7,500 km / 6 months
  • Petrol with Fully Synthetic Oil: 10,000–15,000 km / 12 months
  • Diesel: 5,000–7,500 km depending on oil grade
  • Turbo Engines: Follow manufacturer recommendation strictly — usually 5,000 km

  • 0W-20 — Used in newer, high-efficiency petrol engines
